Worship

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand… - Romans 5: 1-2

Modern Worship

Sundays  •  11 am  •  Worship & Arts Center

Welcome to ACCESS! We are a community that believes everyone has access to God's grace, and we're really glad you've found us!

The ACCESS community exists to connect people to each other and to God for the sake of our community. Our school partnerships are a great example of how we do this and something that makes Access kind of unique.

We’re also a little unique in how we worship God. At any given worship service, in addition to elements common to many churches like sound Biblical preaching and great modern Christian music, you might also find yourself assembling gift bags for homeless persons or texting questions for a live Q&A after our sermon. We try to infuse Access worship with participatory and occasionally unexpected elements.

Finally, you should know that we’re a bit of a mess. When you hear Rich or Julie preach, they’re going to tell you about how they’ve failed to be the people God wants them to be and how they have doubts and questions about God. When our congregation members text prayer requests for us to read during worship, you’ll learn about messiness in relationships, addictions, finances, spiritual lives, and more. We’ve discovered that when we’re open about our messy lives it’s more difficult to be preachy and judgmental, and we think that’s a good thing.

Please explore our website and come visit us soon. We look forward to meeting you!

    Special Accommodations

CHILDREN are always welcome in worship. Nursery care for children up to two years old is available during all worship hours. Children who are 3 years - 5th grade may participate in 11 am Sunday school if desired.

WHEELCHAIRS are accommodated in the front row of stadium seats and at various ends of floor seats.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES are available to anyone with difficulty hearing. They may be borrowed at the Welcome Desk in Coleman Family Hall for any service.

How does ACCESS fit in to FUMCR?

While ACCESS modern worshipers feel a sense of community all their own, a common mission unites everyone at FUMCR: With open hearts and minds, we Welcome people for Christ, Grow people in Christ, and Serve people with Christ.

    What makes ACCESS so special?

We recognize that everyone is imperfect.

We all fall short of perfection. At ACCESS, we choose to be real with each other, acknowledging our shortcomings, accepting each other as we are, and supporting each other in growing to be the people God desires us to become.

We worship with modern Christian music.

The ACCESS band uses varied instrumentation and modern styles of music to bring worshipers into the presence of God. Lyrics express love for Christ, ask questions, seek social justice, affirm living faith in community with others, and more. ACCESS occasionally even worships God with traditional hymns arranged in modern styles.

    We are interactive.

Sometimes, ACCESS worship includes stations that allow us to connect personally to God through our actions. Sometimes, we work on a community service project during ACCESS. At other times, we text message questions or prayer requests to the pastors.

Our sermons encourage you to discover your own answers.

We share Biblical passages, their context, historical situation, insights from the original languages in which they were written, and personal stories of what they have meant to our pastors. In the case of controversial passages, we share why people interpret them so differently. Then, we allow you to decide what you will make of these stories and how you will let them shape your life.

    We embrace a come-as-you-are atmosphere.

ACCESS has an informal, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Many like to worship in jeans. Some like to worship in suits. Some bring a coffee to worship. Some don’t. We all celebrate that through Jesus Christ, we have access to God’s grace, an unconditional love that knows no bounds. We hope you’ll worship with us soon!
