Not just on Sundays, not just special times, but every day practices. What is a practice? Something we do repeatedly, consistently in order to improve in those areas we need to improve. |
FOCUS GROUPS FEB 7 - MAR 31Focus groups about each of the Five Practices are forming now. Each group will meet in the coming weeks to consider the feedback, formulate goals, and offer ideas to the Strategic Planning Team for its use in developing a five-year congregational action plan. If you would like to know more about the Focus Groups or are interested in being a part of a group, please contact Elizabeth Wilson by EMAIL or phone, 972-996-0134. ALL-CHURCH EMPHASIS JAN 10 - FEB 13Occasionally a book comes along that has profound impact on your life. Bishop Robert Schnase's book, Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations is this kind of book and will have meaning for many; meaning for your individual faith life, and meaning for the faith life of the church, the Body of Christ. Over 1500 churches in the greater United Methodist church have embarked on the journey of reading, discussing, contemplating, praying and practicing the meaning of this text. Now your church, First United Methodist Church Richardson is reading, discussing, contemplating, praying about and practicing this text together as one Body of Christ.
To strengthen you on this journey, you will receive a "5 Packet" including a copy of Cultivating Fruitfulness, a devotional guide for you and your family. We encourage you to set aside time to explore each practice for your own life and use the Personal Action Plan as a way to reflect on what you have learned and how you might grow. We pray that these 5 weeks may be a time of spiritual growth for you as an individual and for us as a congregation as we deepen practices that help us Welcome people for Christ, Grow people in Christ, and Serve people with Christ.
