Worship Services
8:45 am, 9:45 am and 11:00 am
Sanctuary

All are welcome to participate in worship services, including families with children. Children's activity bags are available at the entrances to the sanctuary to keep little ones occupied. Front row pews are narrower in order to provide for wheelchairs. Assisted listening devices are available to anyone with difficulty hearing. They may be borrowed at the Shawver Welcome Center Desk for any service.
Typically, all three services include a welcome and opening announcements, corporate affirmation of faith, prayer, congregational singing as well as anthems by the choir, readings from the Bible, and the spoken word by one of the pastors. Music is always an important element of worship. Hymns are sung both from the United Methodist hymnal and the Faith We Sing book. A wide variety of music is a part of worship services throughout the year. Adaptations of hymns, gospel, classical, and contemporary Christian music will be heard in our traditional services. Orchestra, drums, brass, piano or organ may be a part of the musical presentation on any given Sunday. Media screens are used to display worship music, scripture, and information. Services conclude with a closing hymn and an invitation to guests to join the church. Services typically last one hour.
At 8:45, anthems are sung by the Chapel Singers youth choir on most Sundays during the school year.
At 9:45 and 11:00, anthems are sung by the adult Chancel choir.
The magnificent, modern gothic sanctuary, with its warm wooden arches, was completed in March, 2006. The stained glass windows are a study of light as well as inspiration as they interpret the seven days of creation.
All worship is an activity the Christian community is called to do: Worship is our work in response to the presence and grace of God.
Communion

The communion table in the United Methodist Church is open to all who profess their faith in Jesus Christ, without regard to age or church membership.
Communion is typically taken by intinction (dipping the bread into the juice and taking both elements together) during all three morning worship services on the first Sunday of each month. Communion is also served on the other Sundays in the Chapel at 8:15 am and 12:00 pm for those who are interested in participating in communion each week. For more information on Communion click here.
Where should children be during worship?
Children of all ages are welcome with their family in any worship service!
A short Children's Time is a special part of each service. To occupy little ones during the rest of the service, we have small worship bags available at the entrances to the sanctuary that are filled with coloring pages and small toys. More information about children in worship is available HERE.
We also have a remarkable Sunday School program which is devoted to nurturing and teaching our children. Casses for all ages are offered at the 9:45 hour. Classes for select ages are available at the 8:45 and 11:00 hours . The children and youth departments strive to make each child feel comfortable whether they are a first-time guest, continuing guest or a long time member. For more information, please see our
CHILDREN'S, YOUTH and SPECIAL NEEDS (GEMS) pages.
Adult Sunday School
Adults are also encouraged to participate in a Sunday school class, either before or after worship. Class descriptions, times, and locations are listed HERE.
