Prayer Blanket Ministry

Families or individuals request a prayer blanket for persons facing critical illnesses or life crisis situations.  A special blanket is also available for those in the military.  After a request the blankets are prepared.  Each Sunday before and after Worship Services, church members tie knots in the blanket’s fringe and say a prayer for the recipient.  The week following Sunday all blankets are taken to the individuals.  This ministry receives no church funds and is financed entirely by donations. Forms to request a prayer blanket are available in the brochure rack near the Information Desk in  the Shawver Welcome Center.  For additional information about this ministry, click on Prayer Blankets.  To volunteer in this ministry or to make a contribution or to request a blanket contact Coordinator, Joan Huddleston,   972.235.7378.

Prayer Group

The Prayer Ministry is a ministry of intercessory prayer.  What is intercessory prayer?  Intercessory prayer is prayer offered to God for others.  An intercessor is one who takes the place of another or pleads another’s case.  One study Bible defines intercession as, “holy, believing, preserving prayer whereby someone pleads with God on behalf of another or others who desperately need God’s intervention”.  The Prayer Ministry meets weekly on Tuesdays.  We are looking for persons to expand our Prayer Team.  If you are confident in your prayer life, maturing in your faith, can keep confidences (since prayer concerns are a sacred trust) and can give a minimum of 15 minutes a week to pray for the concerns of our members, we invite you to contact Rev. April Bristow or 972.996.0139. Click here to make a prayer request.
