Caring Ministries Visitors

A core value of First United Methodist Church Richardson:

We are a congregation who cares about persons who are experiencing difficult, often tragic, life issues.

At one time or another all of us face difficulties.  None of us escapes.  As a people of faith we express our Christian love and concern in many different ways.  All expressions are important and valuable but perhaps no ministry illustrates concrete Christ like love more than visiting those who are sick or infirmed in hospitals, care facilities and homes.  Laity of our church visit hospitals on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of each week communicating the support and compassion of our church to those who are ill.  Laity are  assigned a care facility resident or a home restricted person and demonstrate, with their presence, a compassion for those who often feel isolated and alone.

We are proud of these ministries.  We know from experience how much good they do.  To keep them functioning effectively we need people to be bearers of this care.  Perhaps you are looking for a meaningful way to live out your discipleship in Jesus Christ.  If so, this is a very effective way to do that.  Jesus said, “I was sick and you took care of me….” (Matthew 25: 35).
