What We Learn in Sunday School

Beginning in kindergarten, FUMCR's children's Sunday school follows the Learning Steps program, which is designed to provide an age-level appropriate concentration or emphasis on learning as the child grows. As children advance each year, they learn the various traditions of the faith as they progress in their spiritual growth.

In addition to Learning Steps, there is a Missions Emphasis Sunday every few months within the Sunday school hours. We recognize the importance of teaching children to take the lessons they have learned and find ways to live out their faith in communities near and far in a hands-on, experiential way. If you would like to help with these Sundays, contact Allyson George. We need parent participation to make these activities happen.

The Learning Steps for each grade level include:

Kindergarten ...... "Jesus Loves Me" song
First Grade ........ Worship Attendance Readiness
Second Grade ... Lord's Prayer (King James version)
Third Grade ....... Books of the Bible (familiarity with the Bible)
Fourth Grade ..... Ten Commandments
Fifth Grade ........ Fruits of the Spirit
Sixth Grade ........ Confirmation/Church Membership
