Opening the Doors |

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. —Revelation 3:20

A Word From Our Senior PastorIn June of 1886 a small group of thirteen dedicated people, along with a circuit-riding preacher, formed what is now the First United Methodist Church, Richardson. These thirteen charter members and their pastor could never have envisioned what would happen in this small farming community. But their seeds of faith are still evident today. Over the years, the community and the church have seen booming growth and reached a new stage of maturity. The church has had several different buildings, and in the 1950's saw a need to relocate to our present site. In 1999, the church voted to once again relocate to our Central Expressway property, not just to have more room for ourselves, but to open the doors to others. Now, it is our turn to leave a legacy to future generations. It is our turn to open the doors and allow more people to experience the life changing love of Jesus Christ! "Opening the Doors" is our opportunity to give additional gifts which will provide furnishings for our new church campus. We are recipients of a gift. Someone opened the door for us, leading us to experience God's grace and find our way into this wonderful church family. Now we have the opportunity to give gifts, perhaps in honor or memory of those who opened the door for us. It is our hope that every member of our congregation will have an opportunity to be involved in a gift for the new building. As you review this brochure, you will find gift opportunities ranging from $9 to over $1 million. All gifts will be appropriately recognized and recorded in a permanent gift book or on a plaque. These gifts may be given in honor or memory of loved ones. As the years go by, they will serve as a lasting memorial and legacy. The gifts we provide will enable us to finish and furnish our new church home to the Glory of God.
