Woman's Center

The Woman's Center in Richardson offers diverse programs, support groups, plus resource and referral services. The center is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, non-denominational organization open to women of all ages in the surrounding community. Programs of interest and inspiration are offered each Wednesday morning and are open to the community without charge, membership or reservation. Wednesday Morning begins with coffee at 9:30 and the programs begin at 10:00. The first Wednesday of each month there is a pot luck lunch. Programs are not scheduled during August but begin again in September.

The Center is at 515 Custer Road in Richardson, across Custer Rd. from First United Methodist Church of Richardson. The Woman's Center is an outreach ministry of FUMCR.

Winter Program Schedule

Wednesday, February 24
David Russell, President of Richardson Wireless Klub, will talk about Keeping Richardson Safe, an alert system.  As ham radio operators, they can provide Richardson with information about severe weather to terrorist attacks.  David will share how this alert system works.

 Wednesday, March 3
 WHAT'S IT WORTH?  Randy Borland is a coin collector and will be the speaker sharing where and how he trades coins.  He will have some of his collection on display.  If you have coins around hidden away, bring them and find out their worth.

Wednesday, March 10
Velette Lill, Marketing Speaker for the Dallas Arts District, will present an informative program on art opportunities focusing on the new Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts.

Wednesday, March 17
WHAT IS THE ARK HOUSE?  It's not Noah's Ark!  The Ark House is a group of fully-furnished apartments in Dallas for patients and their families who come to Dallas for long-term medical care.  Come see a video presentation and learn about the organization, the facility, and who is supported through this outreach.

Wednesday, March 24
Jan Newby will discuss a mystery author.  Most of us have heard of this author's books so come find out who will be discussed and learn about who this author is and this author's life.

Wednesday, March 31
Paulette Latham creates new jewelry and repairs old.  She will acquaint us with her history as a professional jewelry maker and display some of her pieces.  Bring your jewelry with hard to fasten clasps and Paulette will replace them with magnetic clasps.

Special Seminar Coming Friday, March 26
On Friday, March 26 the Woman's Center will sponsor a morning seminar with Dr. Terry Parsons on the topic of "Exploring Your Dreams."  Terry is a United Methodist minister and professional counselor who has done a lot of work exploring dreams and their messages to us.  The morning will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and end at 12:00 noon with a delicious light lunch.  There is no cost for the seminar but reservations are requested by calling the Woman's Center at 972-238-9519.  This promises to be a morning of interesting and enlightening conversation and sharing.  Come join us.
