Woman's Center

The Woman's Center in Richardson offers diverse programs, support groups, plus resource and referral services. The center is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, non-denominational organization open to women of all ages in the surrounding community. Programs of interest and inspiration are offered each Wednesday morning and are open to the community without charge, membership or reservation. Wednesday Morning begins with coffee at 9:30 and the programs begin at 10:00. The first Wednesday of each month there is a pot luck lunch. Programs are not scheduled during August but begin again in September.

The Center is at 515 Custer Road in Richardson, across Custer Rd. from First United Methodist Church of Richardson. The Woman's Center is an outreach ministry of FUMCR.

Wednesday, May 12

Duwain Pingenot is a representative of the Eisemann Center in Richardson.  He will acquaint us with the world class concert hall, it various functions, and its history.  Duwain is also a menber of the Plano Community Band.  This should be a very interesting program about on of Richardson's gems.

Wednesday, May 19 

Mike Lightfoot is the Director of Music at First United Methodist Church.  He in the fall of 2009 Mike ran the 56 mile marathon in Durban, South Africa to celebrate his milestone of reaching 50.  He will share with us his experiences in South Africa and the race he ran to raise awareness and money for drilling wells so that villagers could have access to clean, fresh water.

Wednesday, June 2

Joanne Monroe-Elliot will tell us her inspirational life story of hope, joy, and redemption.  At one point she was living homeless with her 2 children in her car.  Today she is a college graduate and Director of Texas Women's Outreach.  This organization helps women who havae been physically and mentally abused by their partners.
