Tradition

For over a century, First United Methodist Church Richardson has been touching the lives of our community. From its beginnings in 1886 the church has opened its doors and its hearts to all those who need and seek the love, hope, joy and peace of Jesus Christ.

This rich tradition is a tribute to all the pioneers and visionaries who have given FUMCR a proud and cherished past.Today’s congregation is the beneficiary of the series of bold moves this long lineage of visionaries has executed over the past century. The chuch has come a long way from the white frame church on Greenville Avenue, the red brick building that replaced it, to the home on Beltline Road for 48 years, and in 2006 the move to our current campus on Central Expressway.

Sacrificial giving has been an integral part of FUMCR as each step in the bold building expansion program was undertaken. God continues to bless the church and challenge its members to a higher plateau of trust in Him.

Since it’s founding in 1886, First Methodist Richardson has provided blessings of inspirational worship and music, avenues for spiritual growth, opportunities for service, and lifelong friendships. Our family has personally been a recipient of these gifts for over 30 years. With a surge in attendance at our new campus, we are now called to continue the legacy as we expand ministries to our growing church family and for those yet to come. Out of thanksgiving for all God has done in our lives, it is with joy that we welcome the opportunity to be a part of Pathway with Purpose.
