Prayer BlanketsWhat is a prayer blanketOur church’s Prayer Blanket ministry makes prayers tangible to those who are having surgery or who are suffering serious illness or infirmity. Built into each blanket is the gift of prayer: the symbol of faith in God and in His power to comfort, strengthen and heal. The Prayer Blanket ministry creates each blanket for an individual and labels it with that person’s name and an embroidered Methodist cross. The fleece rectangle is cut along the edges to create a deep fringe. Blankets will be placed in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings for prayers. Congregation members, friends and family, and the person who receives the blanket tie knots in the fringe while praying. Especially for Military Service PersonnelFor our soldiers small camouflage fleece pieces are embroidered with the Methodist cross and Psalm 4:8, "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make we dwell in safety."
