Liturgical Seasons |
"See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance." Song of Solomon 2:11-13a Ordinary TimeWe designate the Sundays between Pentecost (June 4 in 2006) and the beginning of Advent (December 3 in 2006) as First Sunday after Pentecost, Second Sunday after Pentecost, and so on. This custom is "ordinary" in that we use ordinal numbers to name the Sundays. These Sundays are just as important to the nourishment of your soul as are the great feast days of Christmas and Easter. Worship God on every Sunday. You will find God's grace to be always extraordinary. |
