Volunteer Opportunites with Inviting & Involving Ministries

For those gifted in hospitality, we encourage you to prayerfully consider a place of service in the Inviting & Involving Ministries.  About 100 volunteers are needed each week to breathe life into this vital ministry.  Whether you are available to serve weekly, monthly, quarterly, or occasionally, there is a place for you!  Training is provided.

* Currently a high-need area *

Fill and/or distribute gift bags to first-time guests.  Bags are ready to assemble on Sundays at 11:30, and available to be picked up shortly thereafter.  Bags may be delivered any time on Sunday afternoons within a 10-mile radius.  You choose how often to serve.

Luncheons

Extend warm hospitality and lend a hand serving food and beverages at guest and new member luncheons.  Volunteers are asked to serve one or two times a year.

New Member Welcome & Photography

* Currently a high-need area *

At the close of worship, greet and assist any new members in completing a new member form, and take an individual or family photo.  Volunteers typically serve one Sunday a month at one worship hour.  A camera is provided.

Sunday Morning Greeters

A friendly hello is is the only requirement!  Greeters serve in 30-minute shifts at various doorways and sidewalk areas around campus.  Select one Sunday of the month to serve; serve monthly or every other month, or as a substitute.

Special Occasion Greeters

Welcome guests as they arrive at FUMCR for special events, concerts, or seminars.  Volunteers are "as needed" and choose their level of participation, from once or twice to 10 times a year.  Shifts vary, but are often 45 minutes long.

Welcome Correspondence

Offer a warm welcome to newcomers and new members through telephone calls, emails and hand written notes.  Correspondence takes place weekly.

Welcome Receptions & Classes

Share hospitality during a 30-minute shift at Coffee & Conversation receptions on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Serve as a host, facilitator or campus tour guide for newcomer information classes or new member classes.

Time commitments vary, but a semi-regular commitment is preferred.

Welcome Centers

Represent the church as a welcoming ambassador at one of three welcome center desks.  Distribute and convey information about our church and its ministries.  Occassionally assist with registrations and sign-ups for church events.  Training is provided, and volunteers are not expected to know all the answers.  30-minute and 60-minute shifts are available weekly, twice monthly or as your schedule allows.
