Modern Worship

Sundays  •  11 am  •  Worship & Arts Center

Our modern service has two primary goals for each person who joins us in worship: warmth and goosebumps

We believe that every person on the face of this planet was created by God, in God’s image.  Due to that fact, we do everything we can to ensure that you experience the warmth of God’s love every Sunday morning.  When we offer communion on the first Sunday of every month, for example, we invite all people to participate, whether it’s your first time in church or your millionth time.  We want you to know that you are a person of sacred worth, and we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.

We believe that a Sunday morning worship service should be transformative.  We pray that each person who joins us in worship has a goosebump moment when they experience the living God.  This might come through a simple conversation; it might come through the music; it might come through the sermon; or through any of a variety of other elements.  However that goosebump moment occurs, we strive to create a transformative worship experience that leaves you different afterward than you were when you walked in.

What is your modern worship service like?

Our modern worship service typically lasts around 50 minutes. It includes music led by our band, a couple brief announcements about things happening in the life of our church, a time of prayer and the reading of Scripture, and a sermon shared by one of our pastors. Following the sermon we typically conclude the service with one or two more songs and a blessing to send us into the week.

We offer communion on the first Sunday of every month, which is open to all people.

    Do I need a Bible?

While we encourage everyone to bring a Bible to the worship service, we also have a media screen that displays the Scripture for everyone to see. If you need assistance acquiring a Bible, let us know and we’d be happy to help!

    What should I wear?

You are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable. We have some people who wear jeans and t-shirts. We have others who like to worship in suits and dresses.  Overall, our modern worship service has a more casual atmosphere than our traditional services, so feel free to come as you are, bring a cup of coffee, and relax.

    What about my kids?

Children are always welcome in worship! We provide “activity bags” for kids that you can find on a table as you walk into our worship space. We also offer an excellent Sunday school program at 11 am as an option for children 3 years – 1st grade, and nursery care for children up to two years old as well. Feel free to ask a friendly helper at our Welcome Desk to point you in the right direction!

    Is your space wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The Worship & Arts Center, where our service is held, is completely wheelchair accessible, with spaces for wheelchairs in the front row of the stadium seats and at various ends of floor seats.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email Pastor Josh directly at josh@fumcr.com.
