Weekend for Women Retreat
March 31 - April 1, at the Prothro Center at Lake Texoma
“The Altars We Build” with Rev. Ann Willet
In any Christian worship space, the altar offers us a focal point and tangible symbols of grace. We will center our minds on the physical space that invites us to connect with God, study examples from Scripture and explore ways that the altars in our memories have drawn us in to a spirit of prayer. As an act of worship, we will consider ways to create our own worship spaces that will help us honor and remember God’s eternal love.

Meet our Special Guest
Rev. Ann Willet is Executive Minister atFUMC Dallas, where she was appointed in July 2016. She previously served as senior pastor at Ridgewood Park UMC (Dallas) and First UMC, Royse City (35 miles east of Dallas) and as associate pastor at First UMC Richardson and Walnut Hill UMC.
Ann feels a particular calling to worship leadership, and she loves to gather with the church family each Sunday morning. She is especially attentive to offering hospitality to newcomers and to helping them find ways to become connected and grow in faith. Ann’s previous business background (banking, management consulting and financial management) has proven to be very helpful in the administrative and financial aspects of pastoral leadership.
Ann is married to Loren Willet, who is a banker in downtown Dallas. Their three daughters are now young adults, and Ann and Loren are enjoying the empty nest. Gardening is an important aspect of Ann’s personal and spiritual life, and she was certified as a Dallas County Master Gardener in 2015. With her hands in the dirt, she experiences the beauty of God’s creation and is able to express her creativity. Ann also believes that planting, feeding, tending, and harvesting is a powerful metaphor for our lives together as the Body of Christ.
