Committee Descriptions
Board of Trustees
3-year term. Meets at least quarterly on Sunday at noon. Responsible for the property of the church, endowment fund/foundation, insurance and liability, and planning and financing requirements for church buildings. Ideal candidates have experience in insurance, law, construction, or engineering.
Staff Parish Relations Committee
3-year term. Meets quarterly. Responsible for recommending positions needed for ministry, supporting the staff, and working with those preparing for ordained ministry. Ideal candidates have been members for at least 5 years.
Committee on Nominations
3-year term. Meets in the Fall, 1-2 times, in preparation for Charge Conference. Responsible for filling open committee positions. Ideal candidates have been members for at least 5 years and are active in the church and community.
Finance Committee
3-year term. Meets monthly on the 4th Monday at 6 pm. Responsible for overall stewardship including annual budgeting, capital campaigns, and development. Ideal candidates prioritize the mission and ministry the money is funding. Experience in banking, accounting, or management is beneficial.
Weekday Kids at First Board
3-year term. Meets quarterly. Responsible for oversight of day care, kindergarten, preschool, and mother's day out programs including budget, salaries, and tuition. The ideal committee includes parents, business professionals, and educators.
Strategic Vision Committee
3-year term, except youth who may serve shorter term. Meets as needed, approximately 6 times per year. Responsible for reviewing current long-range vision plan annually, determining progress, and seeking new opportunities, based on demographics and growth trends in our community. The ideal committee includes a balance of ages, genders, experiences, and backgrounds.
FUMCR Foundation, Inc., Board
3-year term. Meets quarterly. Responsible for managing, sustaining, and increasing the permanent endowment fund. Ideal candidates have experience in development or fund raising.
