The Church Library of FUMCR was organized to provide books and materials that will help the congregation develop their Christian faith. It is in the southwest corner of Family Life Building.

The library supports the kindergarten, the day school, all Sunday school classes, and the Disciple groups. Stephen Ministry and UMW books are shelved separately. The many references on the books of the Old and New Testaments and the New Interpreter's Bible series are of interest to many readers.

Books are loaned for 3 weeks and tapes and periodicals for 1 week to all members as well as those connected to the day schools.

The UMW reading list books are now located in the library

THE FAITH: Given Once, For All

By Charles Colson & Harold Fickett

Renowned authors Charles Colson and Harold Fickett caution us that ignorance of our own faith comes at the most critical of times for Christianity and the world at large.

But what do we believe? Why do we believe it? And why does it matter?

“Christians must see that the faith is more than a religion or even a relationship with Jesus; the faith is a complete view of the world and humankind’s place in it. Christianity is a worldview that speaks to every area of life, and its foundational doctrines define its content. If we don’t know what we believe—even what Christianity is--- how can we live it and defend it? Our ignorance is crippling us.”

This book will provide a new grounding for Christians who’ve been practicing their faith for years yet still lack a firm grasp of the basic truths on which their faith rests. This book is an answer to those critics who accuse Christians of theocracy. Christians do not impose—we propose a wonderful vision of life, an invitation to all who will come. Above all, this book is a powerful touchstone, a dynamic exploration of what Christians believe and why. Because you can’t defend what you can’t explain, and you can’t live it until you learn it.
