Amigos Days is a project of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church that FUMCR has been a part of since its inception at least a decade ago. Lunch and drinks are provided. Some skilled people are needed as well as others who want to help. Contact Joy Anderson to participate. Watch for more information about sign up opportunities. International Christmas Market Successful! The International Christmas Market November 9, 10, & 11 was wonderfully successful! The Market was open to the community as well as church members. The fair trade crafts and coffee were very popular with the crowd and supplies of many items were sold out. Shares were also purchased in record numbers as Christmas gifts for those who have everything. The preliminary total for the Market is $76,833! What a wonderful gift to the world at the time that we receive the greatest gift, the birth of a baby who came to show us a new way to love and care for others. Of that money none stays within the church except for 3 programs that are a part of the outreach ministry of the church. Thank you to all those who worked at the Market and those who came and bought and found a new way to spend those Christmas dollars.
860 Totebags Collected for the Homeless! Totebags for the homeless is a ministry that provides the homeless with essential toiletries, plus a few other items. Most of us are so blessed that it often escapes us that some among us do not have the resources to obtain those items that seem so normal and essential to our lives. The homeless often don't have access to toiletries, socks, gloves and a hat for the cold weather, nor do they have the financial resources to buy those items. This is a small way that we can help make their lives a bit easier for a short time. Totebags will go to Body & Soul, Austin Street Shelter, and the Day Resource Center.
