Youth gather at FUMCR for fellowship, worship, and to participate in open and honest discussions about teenage life, pressures, and culture. Our youth group is a place where youth can come, just as they are, and discover together how awesome our God is!

Council on Youth Minsitry

The Council on Youth Ministry (CYM) is the youth leadership core at First UMC Richardson. Representatives from each grade are needed each year to serve as the sounding board for the youth group providing feedback and new ideas to the youth staff and adults. CYM members are key leaders in their Sunday school classes, during UMYF, and on trips.

Meetings are from 11 am - 12 pm, monthly during the school year. 

To participate in CYM, students must attend the first meeting, as well as commit to missing no more than one meeting for the year and serving as a leader in the youth group.

Senior High Bible Study

No Bible Study this summer. Bible Study will be resume in the fall.

Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, Homes in the community

On Wednesday nights during the school year (September - May), high school age students (9th-12 grades) gather at different homes of our youth to learn about and grow in Christ together. This intimate gathering provides an excellent environment to engage and discuss the scripture and how it relates to our everyday lives.

Trips - Summer & Ski

Trips

Each summer FUMCR youth participate in junior high and senior high mission trips, plus a back-to-school retreat called Really Living. There is also a fall camping trip for senior high youth and spring break ski trip for all youth.

Senior High Mission Trip  •  June 10-15  •  Registration is closed

Rising 9th-12th graders and graduating seniors are invited to travel to south Texas to assist with hurricane recovery.
Cost: $250, includes meals on work days

Junior High Mission Trip  •  July 2-6  •  Registration is closed

Rising 7th and 8th graders are invited to travel to south Texas to assist with hurricane recovery.
Cost: $250, includes meals on work days

Senior International Mission Trip  •  July 15-22  •  Registration is closed

Graduating seniors are invited to participate in an international mission trip to Punta Delgadita, Panama. We will work alongside two United Methodist missionaries stationed there, as well as spend some time on the beach and explore Panama City! The trip is only open to active seniors. Space is limited to 15 people.
Cost: $1500

Really Living Retreat  •  August 17-19  •  REGISTER by Aug 3

Rising 7th –12th grade youth will go to Sky Ranch in Van, TX, for fun, fellowship, and worship planned by the Class of 2019. This is a great way to kick off the new school year!
Cost: $165

FUMCR Student Ministry partners with parents to come along side in helping with the spiritual development of students during their teenage years. We are here to assist you in navigating through these years with all of the confusion, frustration, and questions that come along with it.

Fellowship and Fun

We believe that faith encompasses all aspects of our lives, including our play time and fellowship time.  Because of that, our youth ministry makes sure to provide plenty of activities for our youth that include good ole' fashioned fun!  Some of the things we do include:  Ice Cream Socials, Broomball, Laser-tag, Lock-ins, Whirlyball, Pool Parties, Ski Trips and much, much more. . . .

Missions

Whether it is feeding the homeless, visiting our church’s shut-ins or going on mission trips to New Mexico, Galveston, Appalachia or some other location, there are countless opportunities throughout the year, for our youth to learn what it means to be “Servants in Christ.”
