Wednesdays in October, we’re opening our doors and hearts to a season of spiritual growth, meaningful connection, and community life together. Whether you're a child, youth, or adult, you'll find a place to grow in Christ through dynamic short-term studies and gatherings that nurture faith and build relationships.

    Join us for a joyful journey through Scripture as we discover the often-overlooked humor woven throughout the Bible. From Abraham’s laughter to Jesus’s clever wordplay, you’ll see how biblical writers, prophets, and Jesus himself used irony, satire, and wit to communicate deep spiritual truths. Together, we’ll explore comedic elements in parables, prophetic literature, and wisdom texts—gaining a fresh perspective on how humor bridges the human experience and divine revelation, making sacred truths both memorable and accessible. Come ready to laugh, learn, and be surprised by the joy in God’s Word.

    This class will be informative, inspirational, practical, and collaborative, helping us explore the foundational practices of the Christian life. As we walk together on the road to amazing, we discover that the journey with Jesus is a pathway to transformation—challenging us to grow in God’s grace.

    Curious about what it really means to be Methodist? Whether you’re new to FUMCR or just want a fresh look at the basics, this class is for you! Join Pastor Allison as we dive into the heart of United Methodist beliefs, history, and practice. Together, we’ll explore where we come from, what we believe, and how we live out our faith today. Each session includes both teaching and meaningful discussion—come with questions and curiosity!

  • Parenting the Love and Logic Way®  •  Oct 1-29

    Join Pastor Cheryl Bishop, trained as a facilitator by the Love and Logic Institute, this October for Parenting the Love and Logic Way®, a special Learning Community designed for parents who want to raise responsible and mentally strong children with actionable, research-backed strategies. Love and Logic offers practical tools to help build emotional health, resilience, and confidence in your children, preparing them for life's challenges. Whether you're navigating toddler tantrums or teenage challenges, this group provides a supportive space to learn, reflect, and grow together in faith and family life. Cost is $20 per book. Couples can share a book.

  • Our Changing World: Finding Hope Through The Enneagram   •  Oct 1-22

    In a world filled with constant change, uncertainty, and anxiety, where can we find peace and hope? This experiential course explores how the Enneagram—a powerful tool for spiritual growth—can help us move beyond patterned, unconscious behaviors and live more freely and fully. Together, we’ll reflect on grief, fear, relationships, and more, all through a spiritual lens grounded in grace and self-awareness. Designed for those who already know their Enneagram number, this brand-new course offers space for growth, understanding, and connection. This offering is part of our church-wide Growing in Christ emphasis at First United Methodist Church Richardson. Come grow with us! Cost is $45 per person.

  • Elementary Bible Study for grades 2-6th   •  Oct 1-22

        Led by: Children's Team

    Get ready to explore the Bible in a whole new way! This 4-week Wednesday night experience will help kids learn how to navigate Scripture, understand its big story, and discover how God speaks to us today. Through games, scavenger hunts, and hands-on activities, children will gain confidence in finding Bible verses, understanding different types of writing, and living out what they read. Weekly Themes: What is the Bible? – God’s story and how we read it as United Methodists Finding Your Way – Books, chapters, and verses made simple What’s Inside the Bible? – Genres, people, and God’s big story Living the Bible – Applying God’s Word every day Bring your Bible (we’ll have extras if you need one) and bring your curiosity!

  • Youth Bible Study grades 7-12   •  Oct 1-29

        Led by: Youth Team

    Every Wednesday in October, join us for Youth Bible Study at FUMCR. 7th-12th grade are invited to join us to discuss a stories from the Bible. Bring your Bible, journal, and your questions as we go to God's word together! There is an optional dinner available for families 5-6pm in Coleman Family Hall. No RSVP required.

Note: childcare is available by reservation for infants through 1st graders from 6-7:30pm.

Stay After or Come Early for Fellowship Dinner 
A fellowship dinner will be served in Coleman Family Hall from 5-6pm for all who would like to share a meal and eat on campus before or after your class. Just indicate your desire to eat on your registration form. Dinner payments of $10 per person, with a max of $40 per family, will be taken at the door.
