Many modern biblical scholars approach the Bible in a way that began in academics some 150 years ago.... purporting to read the Bible objectively, without any religious presuppositions, applying new discoveries and insight of historians, literary critics, archaeologists and social scientists. This approach differs from the confessional stance of ancient interpreters shaping both Jewish and early Christian understandings. How did it happen? Are the ways compatible? Is one your preferred way? Or is your way altogether different?
