    Child Development Center

    NOTICE: Weekday Kids At First is currently open and operating under enhanced safety practices.  Only operational staff; persons with legal authority to enter including law enforcement officers, Texas Rising Star staff, licensing staff, and Department of Family and Protective Services staff; professionals providing services to children; children enrolled in the operation; and, only if necessary, parents of children enrolled in the program. All who enter must first pass a temperature check of under 100.0 degrees and a health screening.

    Ages: 8 weeks - 5 years/Pre-K
    Mon-Fri, 8 am - 4 pm

    The Child Development Center opened its doors for an all-day children’s program in August 1990. Licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, we are routinely inspected by the state licensing offices, fire and health departments.

    Monthly Chapel

    Weekday Kids provides a nondenominational chapel service for children two years of age and older. This includes singing, a story, and prayer.  FUMCR's Director of Children’s Ministry conducts this monthly service. Prayer before each meal is lead in the classrooms.

    Meals

    Children receive morning and afternoon snacks, and a nutritious, well balanced lunch each day. All meals are served family style in the classroom. We encourage manners and self –help skills. The Child Development Center does not serve any food containing nuts, peanut butter or pork.

    Child-to-Staff Ratios and Fees

    Registration:
    Initial Registration - $125 per child
    Annual Registration - $125 per year
    Each Additional Child - +$50.00 per year

    Tuition:  effective January 1, 2020
    Infants - 10:3, $235 weekly
    Young Toddlers - 10:2, $210 weekly
    Older Toddlers & 2-Year-Olds - 10:2, $205 weekly
    Preschool (3-, 4- & 5-year-olds - 20:2, $185 weekly

    Severe Weather Policy

    In the event of severe weather, we will follow Richardson Independent School District closings.  IF RISD IS CLOSED, WE ARE CLOSED.  Inclement weather days WILL NOT be made up and tuition fees will not be refunded.

  • Mothers Day Out
    Mothers Day Out

    2020-21 School Year

    Our Parent Orientation Meeting will take place on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 1  in the Worship and Arts Center at 10:00.  An email will be sent out to all currently enrolled families for the 2020-21 school year on August 3 inviting you to attend this meeting.  MDO Meet the Teacher will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in each classroom from 9-11 am.  This is a come and go event.  The first day of school will be Sept. 8.

    Ages: 3 mos. - 2 years as of Sept 1 Hours: 9 am - 2 pm
    Program Days: Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri (choose 1 or more)
    Tuesday after Labor Day - 3rd week of May, following RISD days off

    The Mother's Day Out program is a Christian-oriented childcare program designed to be of service to the community. Your child can enjoy having fun with other children his/her age in a loving, nurturing and safe environment.

    MDO Fees 

    $50 annual registration/# of days during week  •  $125 monthly tuition/# of days during week

    2020-21 School Year

    Our Parent Orientation Meeting will take place on the evening of Wednesday, August 26, in the Worship and Arts Center.  An email will be sent out to all currently enrolled families with specific times based on which class each student has been enrolled in for the 2020-21 school year.  Emails inviting you to this event will be sent August 3.  Classroom teachers will begin contacting families Aug. 24 with details about meet the teacher dates and times.  The first day of school will be Sept. 8.

    Ages: 2 1/2 - 4 years/Pre-K as of Sept 1
    Hours: 8:45-11:45 am, optional 12-2 pm extended day
    Program Days: T/Th, M/W/F, M-F 
    Tuesday after Labor Day - 3rd week of May, following RISD days off

    Our preschool is a Christian-oriented half-day developmental preschool program for children 2 1/2 years old through pre-kindergarten and follows the Richardson Independent School District calendar beginning the week of Labor Day and closing the third week of May. Classes are limited in size and divided according to birth dates.

    Music & Movement

    Music & Movement is a developmental program designed to develop gross motor skills within the child. It helps with neuromuscular balance and coordination, which are essential elements for reading, writing, spelling and number readiness. Children spend 20 minutes each day developing the total child through their own learned body controlled movements.

    Chapel

    Preschool classes attend chapel once a month in which a minister or Children's Ministry director leads the children in a short Christian lesson.

    Extended Day

    This program, 11:45 am - 2 pm each day, is offered to children involved in the Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Children bring their lunches and participate in a more relaxed classroom atmosphere for this period.

    Parent Involvement

    Parents are welcome to visit classes. They are asked to provide snacks, assist with parties, and are encouraged to share their talents and hobbies. Parent/teacher conferences are held at least once a year. At least two evening family events are planned during the school year.

    The kindergarten program is a half-day class that focuses on children’s strengths to build strong academic and social skills for future success in elementary school.  Lessons and experiences in this classroom are developmentally appropriate and focused on five academic subject areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. This program follows the state standards for public kindergartens in the state of Texas - Texas Knowledge and Essential Skills (TEKS) - including Richardson ISD. The kindergarten program is taught by Libby Gordon, a former RISD kindergarten teacher.

    The program follows the Richardson Independent School District calendar beginning the week of Labor Day and closing the third week of May. Classes meet Monday - Friday from 8:45 - 11:45 am, with an optional Extended Day (see Preschool tab).
